I remember Marx believed Communism was only possible in a highly developed industrial society like Britain... what we saw in Russia and China were not Communis regimes but dictatorships forcing a transition from feudalism to industrialized, modernized society. Is it remotely possible that, if Britain truly collapses, it might be an opportunity for the country to experiment with new forms of social sharing, participatory democracy? To actually create a new model for the world -- I am sure you know about Transition Town? I also know perhaps half the population in Britain is hypnotized / broken.... but perhaps there are enough people who are awake who could lead the country into a new vision? Could be worth trying!
